The family and I are in the process of buying a new house. Suffice to say, I’ve been mega busy. It’s been a long journey, we spent months searching for the right house. It was such a roller coaster of emotions. There were many places we thought we wanted, only to be shut down in the beginning of the process. There was a point where I felt we were never going to find the right place. Finally, we found something we really liked and our offer was accepted!
Fast forward to present, we’re looking to move in this coming weekend. We are so excited and scared. I mean buying a car or a new purse is one thing but buying a house is whole new world! It will be tight for us for a while, but both the hubby and I are willing to make sacrifices. I guess ever since our little one arrived, I’ve dreamed of bringing her up in a nice house. I was fortunate that my parents were homeowners when I was born and I’ve always had a place to call “home” at their place. I want the same for my daughter.
We’ve been renting a small one bedroom for the past 8 years. It’s been perfect for the two of us but since the baby, I’ve found it a little cramped. I guess I was brought up in a 5 bedroom house on a half acre lot and having my parents and the 3 of us squishing into less than 600 square feet of space seemed a bit much. I wanted my family to be able to visit freely because I only have an aunt and a cousin who live here (on Oahu). The rest of my family (parents and siblings) live on Maui. I really want Kira to have a close sense of family and I feel it will be hard with the distance. Anyway, our new house will make things a lot more comfortable when we have guests.
I already envision all the things we’ll be able to do without new place, maybe get a small wading pool for her, decorating her room, letting her have the run of the house. It’s really fun to think of all the possibilities.
